Our team is looking to fill a Credit Underwriting Manager position for our Dealer Banking division in our Sandy, Utah office location.
Role Description:
The individual in this role holds primary responsibility for overseeing the underwriting operations within the division. This includes managing the evaluation and decision-making process for loan applications originated by the department, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and compliance throughout.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage all commercial credit underwriting activities, ensuring alignment with organizational standards and regulatory requirements.
Supervise the assessment, approval, and denial of loan applications, maintaining high standards of quality and risk management.
Monitor the integrity and performance of approved loans to ensure underwriting quality and adherence to policy.
Oversee a team of credit professionals, providing guidance, support, and performance oversight.
Stay current with industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in loan underwriting, and ensure the underwriting team is informed and trained accordingly.
Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and internal policies within the underwriting division.
Manage staffing activities including recruitment, transfers, terminations, and performance evaluations.
Qualifications:
Eight to Ten years of experience in commercial loan underwriting, 3 years of management experience.
Experience in underwriting and managing commercial loans, including Commercial & Industrial (C&I) and real estate loans.
Proficiency in analyzing financial statements, credit reports, and collateral to assess risk and creditworthiness.
Proven ability to lead and mentor a team of underwriters, fostering collaboration and ensuring high-quality work.
Familiarity with banking policies, regulatory requirements, and compliance standards related to commercial lending.
Experience in monitoring and managing commercial loan portfolios, identifying risks, and implementing strategies for improvement.
Strong ability to collaborate with stakeholders, including relationship managers, portfolio managers, legal teams, and borrowers, to structure loans and resolve issues.
Experience in streamlining underwriting processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
