Zions Bancorporation has an exciting opportunity in our Salt Lake City, UT market for a Payroll Specialist.

Keeping compliant with the ever-changing world of tax reform the Payroll Department operates in a continually evolving environment and comprised of six awesome team members whose mission focus is 100% payroll accuracy and timeliness on behalf of our employees and Zions. The team is dedicated to working with our HR Partners to ensure proper setups on HR platforms making us one team with one vision.
We are looking to recruit a motivated, conscientious individual with a willingness to take responsibility, work as part of a team to provide an efficient and responsive payroll service. As well as provide a high level of customer service through all interactions with employees, staff, managers ensuring the accurate and timely resolution of issues and inquires.
Ideal candidates will have the skills and experience necessary to:
- Responsible for processing the enterprise-wide payroll.
- Enter payroll, bonus and/or time information into the payroll system.
- Maintain and update employee information in the time and attendance system.
- Ensure the timely and accurate distribution of payroll checks and/or deposit advices.
- Approve, balance and audit time and pay records from system prior to payroll submission.
- Contact appropriate supervisor/manager to resolve discrepancies.
- Respond to inquiries from clients regarding payroll matters.
- May prepare check requests as required.
- May assist in calculating information for employee leaves, including short- and long-term disability, work injury and family leaves.
- Be adaptable and take on additional assignments as needed.
What you’ll bring to the table:
- Requires High School diploma or equivalent and some payroll processing, data entry or other directly related experience.
- A combination of education and experience may meet job requirements.
- Basic knowledge of payroll processing and procedures, debits, credits and human resources processes and programs.
- Good data entry skills.
- Good attention to detail and accuracy.
- Able to meet deadlines, adapt to change and workloads.
- Good customer service, client relationship, problem resolution and communications skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to identify and correct a variety of errors.
- Able to perform mathematical computations, maintain accurate records and make decisions.
- Ability to use good judgment and initiative to get the job done.
- Ability to research resource documents to respond to questions.
- Basic knowledge of computer applications for automated payroll systems and electronic data processing as well as Microsoft windows programs.
