Zions Bancorporation is currently looking for an experienced Sr. Risk Officer to join the Data, Technology and Cybersecurity Risk Oversight team with proven second line of defense risk oversight experience. This individual will be primarily responsible for providing risk oversight of the Bank’s technology, cloud, and cybersecurity initiatives and related efforts including underlying policies, processes, committee level reporting, issue management, and other governance related enablement activities. This role requires a broad mix of business, banking process, technical acumen, and risk management knowledge with the ability to challenge and influence others while communicating to various levels of the organization.
The successful candidate will drive a risk-focused, disciplined, and balanced approach to evaluate and improve risk management practices, control effectiveness, and governance processes in a complex technology and business environment.
Responsibilities:
· Ensure alignment with the risk management frameworks.
· Identify gaps in policies, programs, standards, documented risks and controls, key risk indicators, and integrations with other business processes.
· Document credible challenge of Risk Registers (Risk and Control Matrices), including control testing and residual risk analysis.
· Build relationships with key stakeholders, subject matter experts, internal control partners and/or first line risk management.
· Enable risk management through effective utilization of Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) tool.
· Demonstrate strong project management skills.
· Evaluate alignment with organizational risk programs and tolerances.
· Serve as a risk advisor on critical projects and initiatives.
· Demonstrate agility to adapt to changing demands.
Requirements:
· 8+ years of IT Audit or a relevant 2nd Line Risk Management function
· 8+ years of experience within one or a combination of the following: cybersecurity, cloud technologies, technology architecture, software development, or other technologies
· Compelling problem identification and solving abilities to include analytical and evidence gathering practices to support conclusions.
· Experience with issue management oversight, including development of issues and response plans, and reporting.
· Experience with Risk and Control Self-Assessments and Key Risk Indicators.
· Knowledge of information technology and cybersecurity industry frameworks (NIST, ITIL, COBIT, other)
· Proven success working with all levels of management, relationship management, strategic thinking, diplomacy, and negotiation.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Ability to adjust to changing priorities.
· Industry recognized technology or risk certification such as CISSP, CRISC, CISA, etc.
· Applicable bachelor’s degree (accounting, computer science, engineering, information management, security, other technical fields) or equivalent work experience
· A combination of education and experience may meet qualifications.
A Plus:
· An industry recognized certification in Cybersecurity, Cloud Architecture or Cloud Security
· Familiarity with architectural standards and requirements
· Banking industry knowledge
· Strong familiarity with Agile methodologies and general project management
· Familiarity with software development practices and requirements
· Familiarity with compliance with industry frameworks such as COSO, NIST CSF, FFIEC, ITIL, Cobit, etc.
Location:
This position has a hybrid work from home schedule with a minimum of three days per week in the office at the new Zions Technology Center in Midvale, UT.
The Zions Technology Center is a 400,000-square-foot technology campus in Midvale, Utah. Located on the former Sharon Steel Mill superfund site, the sustainably built campus will be the company’s primary technology and operations center.
