We are looking for an experienced Manager, Portfolio Management to join our Corporate Banking team in Houston, TX.

Essential Functions:

  • Manages a team of Portfolio Managers that manage and service portfolio loan relationships.
  • Ensures the team expands and builds relationships with a high degree of resultant customer satisfaction.
  • Responsible for the teams overall loan structuring and monitoring of credit performance.
  • May functions as a back-up for other Portfolio Managers as needed.
  • Responsible for evaluating credit risk and forming opinions for approving or denying loan applications according to set bank standards in a timely manner.
  • Ensures information gathered is appropriate to make sound decisions, including spreading and analyzing financial statements, addressing industry risks and mitigants, collateral requirements, loan structuring and pricing, credit analysis including validation of various underwriting models.
  • Has overall responsibility for policy exception identification, monitoring credit performance and completing loan presentations including new commitments, modifications, and renewals.
  • Recommends exceptions based on findings.
  • May have the authority to structure loans outside the organization's loan policies.
  • Responsible for risk rating assessments and periodic relationship reviews.
  • Consults with clients and internal banking relationship managers to develop objectives, providing advice and counsel.
  • Makes presentations to clients and external audiences regarding products and services as needed.
  • Keeps abreast of new laws and regulations related to commercial and business banking loans.
  • Expands, builds and maintains client relationships, providing the highest level of customer service.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Requires a Bachelor's degree in finance, business or a related field and 8+ years of commercial and business banking loans, credit, loan structuring, portfolio management and banking or other directly related lending experience. Managerial or supervisory experience required. A combination of education and experience may meet requirements.

  • Expert knowledge of loans, portfolio management, credit analysis, underwriting, loan structuring, loan processing and closing processes and procedures.
  • Excellent working knowledge of loan risk, laws and regulations.
  • Ability to expand loan portfolios and client relationships.
  • Excellent management, problem solving and analysis skills.
  • Must have exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to manage, lead and mentor a team of portfolio managers.
  • Must be able to meet and interact with all levels of employees and managers.
  • Excellent relationship building and leadership skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Project, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and other office software.
  • Ability to apply highly advanced concepts in decision-making and problem-solving activities.
