We are seeking a skilled, creative and proactive Internal Corporate Communications Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will develop and execute communication strategies that strengthen employee engagement and foster a positive, connected workplace culture. You will transform complex industry language into digestible, engaging and impactful content that keeps employees informed, inspired and aligned with the bank’s mission, goals and values. Success in this position requires strong storytelling abilities, a deep understanding of internal communications best practices and a hands‑on, solutions‑oriented working style. This role supports revenue growth and business objectives by delivering proactive internal communication that enhances our culture, elevates employee experience and positions Amegy as both an industry expert and a leading corporate citizen.
Responsibilities:
- Internal Communication Strategy: Develop and implement comprehensive internal communication strategies that support the bank's goals and enhance employee engagement. Identify communication gaps or areas for improvement and propose solutions based off industry best practices. Manage the quality and consistency of communications, aimed to increase understanding and awareness of the organization’s culture and on-going performance.
- Content Creation: Create, edit and distribute internal communications, including newsletters, emails, intranet updates and other materials that keep employees informed and engaged.
- Executive Communication: Support executive communication efforts by drafting speeches, presentations and messages (sometimes sensitive) for senior leadership.
- Company Intranet: Serve as content administrator of the company intranet, including content creation and publishing, proactively leveraging the intranet for employee engagement.
- Employee Engagement: Plan and execute initiatives that promote a positive work culture, including employee recognition programs, town hall meetings and other engagement activities. Conduct interviews with colleagues, clients and leadership team for internal/external news stories and articles. Travel time will be expected for branch visits, collaboration and story-finding among retail bankers, area managers and growth market leadership.
- Internal Events/Meetings: Oversee key event logistics for high-level internal meetings, including, but not limited to the use of presentation systems, streaming/recording equipment, etc.
- Crisis Communication: Assist with communication efforts during business continuity events, including, but not limited to, writing internal crisis communication messages, updating the company intranet, planning employee calls and coordinating with public relations and marketing teams to update social media and web content.
- Feedback Mechanisms: Establish and manage feedback channels to gather employee input, measure the effectiveness of internal communication efforts and recommend improvements as needed.
- Collaboration: Work closely with HR, marketing and other departments to ensure consistent messaging and alignment with the bank's overall communication strategy.
- Training & Development: Provide training and support to managers and employees on effective communication practices and tools.
- Measurement & Reporting: Monitor and analyze the impact of internal communication initiatives, providing regular reports and insights to management.
- Innovation: Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in internal communication, continuously seeking ways to improve and innovate.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing or a related field.
- Around 5 years of experience in internal corporate communications, public relations, journalism or related fields, preferably in the financial services industry.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively with senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
- Experience with intranet platforms and content management systems.
- Knowledge of employee engagement strategies and best practices.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
